Features / Shop-floor tracking

Every box knows what is in it.

Print a label, stick it on the box. Anyone on the floor scans it with a phone and sees the parts inside, their pictures, what is finished and what is not, and where the box goes next. No app to install, no login to scan.

The page a phone opens after scanning a box label for order M-1004: a status bar at Printing, the target date, a 3D thumbnail of the cable-chain link with 28 of 40 pieces printed and a progress bar, the pickup note, and a Track your order button.

The box page

The label is the credential.

The QR carries an unguessable token for that order, the same trust model as the customer's own tracking link. Whoever holds the box can see what is in it and update the count. Money is never on the page: amounts and the invoice are staff-only and fetched only after a staff login, never rendered for a passer-by.

  • Part thumbnails from the actual files, so a bin of black brackets is not a guessing game
  • Piece counts updated from the phone as parts come off the bed
  • A box label shows how many are in that box; a whole-order label shows production progress
  • Staff on a logged-in phone get one extra banner: open in the admin, pack this box
The Make board, where box labels are printed from each order's card.

Labels from the order

A box can never carry the wrong list.

Labels are printed from the order, not typed. The packer plan decides which parts go in which carton and in which bag, the same plan that priced the shipping. One label per box, each with its own QR, or one for the whole order.

  • Box labels and bag labels from the same packer plan the order panel showed
  • Nothing prints until you tick it: the label is a deliberate act, not a popup
  • Supply labels for spools and consumables, scanned to log usage against jobs
  • Printer-station QR for Bambu farms connected through BambuBuddy: what is on this machine, what is next, mark a plate done from the phone

Why it matters

“Which printer is the bracket on?”

Asked four times a day at the shop this was built in, answered by walking over to look. The box page and the printer page answer it from wherever you are standing. The customer's tracking page answers it for them, so the phone stops ringing too.

Print one label and scan it.
