Colour swaps in the print queue

If you keep loading Silver for plates sliced in White, the queue asks once and then starts those plates by itself.

Pictures taken from Layers3D 2026.16.04 on Oct 19, 2026

The queue only starts a plate on the exact colour it was sliced for. If you often print White plates on Silver by hand, it can learn that.

How it asks

When you send the same swap twice with Print now, like PLA Silver for a plate sliced in PLA White, the Queue tab asks Use Silver for White from now on?

Click Yes, use Silver and the queue starts White plates on Silver by itself when no White is loaded. Click No and it keeps waiting for White.

What it won't do

  1. An exact colour always goes first. The swap only kicks in when the right colour isn't loaded.
  2. A swap only works within one material. PLA stays PLA.
  3. It never adds a swap without asking you.

See or remove your swaps

Go to Shop setup › Machines › Print defaults › Colour swaps. Each swap shows when you added it and how often it was used. Click Remove and the queue waits for the exact colour again.

This is part of the print queue. If your shop doesn't have the queue yet, you won't see the ask or the list.
