Start with 1, hold the price

When a customer wants to try one first and order 50 later, they can ask you to hold the bigger price from the estimate.

Lots of customers want to test one piece before they order 50. They can ask for that right on the estimate, and you keep the job at the bigger price.

What the customer does

Under a part with a quantity line, the estimate asks Want to try 1 first? with a button for each bigger quantity. They tap one, like 50 pcs.

The line then says they're starting with 1, and that the price for 50 is held for 60 days once they approve. They can tap Undo until then.

After they approve

The price each for that quantity is held for 60 days. The order shows a Test piece first box with the held price and the date it ends.

When they're ready, click Order the 50 now in that box. It fills in those quantities and the held prices.

When it doesn't show

  1. The part needs a quantity line with bigger quantities. See Price by quantity.
  2. It goes away once the estimate is approved.
  3. It doesn't show if they already asked for a test piece on your quote page.
The held price comes from the same place as the quantity line: the prices you saved for that part, or your own engine.
